Jung's 'Shadow Projection' and How it Explains Left-Wing Anger and Violence.

"Shadow Projection" (from Carl Jung's psychology).

Imagine your mind has a "shadow" — all the dark, shameful, guilty, or unacceptable parts of yourself that you don't want to face. Some people have real failings they wish to hide (hypocrisy, selfishness, moral failings, crimes of violence or sex against women). Instead of dealing with it honestly, some people project that shadow onto other people or groups. They then attack them as if they are the source of all that evil which is inside themselves.

This does two things at once:

• It relieves them of their guilt ("I'm not the bad one — they are!").
• It lets them feel morally superior and virtuous by contrast ("Look how good and righteous I am compared to those monsters").

The result? Loud virtue signaling (publicly broadcasting their moral purity) + intense hatred of "the enemy" (right-wingers, conservatives, etc). It's not genuine morality — it's a psychological defense mechanism to hide from your own shame.

Why this fits perfectly:

• Guilty conscience → Unconscious shame gets dumped outward.
• False moral superiority → By making the enemy "pure evil," they become the hero in their own story.
• Deflecting shame → No need for self-reflection when they're busy condemning others.
• Political hatred & signaling → The out-group becomes a convenient screen for their shadow. Social media amplifies it because outrage and performative goodness get likes and status.

In short: They're not fighting the right — they're fighting their own unacknowledged shadow, reflected onto their perceived enemies. Awareness of this process is one of the best ways to break the cycle.

When is a 'female in a dress' not really a 'female in a dress'?

When it's the BBC trying to protect the pronouns of a transgender school shooter.

On BBC Radio 4 today the shooter was called 'a female in a dress' as if the dress was proof of something. Immediate suspicion it was a man because we've been here before and seems to be a trick to reinforce the idea that it's a woman since presumably only a woman would be wearing a dress. A news report wouldn't specifically refer to a 'man in trousers' of course.

Jesse Strang, also referred to as Jess Strang, was a 17- to 19-year-old (reports vary) resident of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Canada, who has been identified by family members, local residents, and multiple media outlets as the perpetrator of the mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School on February 10, 2026.

Strang is described as a biological male who began identifying as transgender (female) around 2023, using she/her pronouns, and had an associated YouTube account featuring the transgender pride flag and anime-style content. Reports indicate Strang sought transition-related advice online as early as age 15, including on Reddit (now-deleted account).

Background and Identification

• Family Confirmation: Strang's uncle, Russell G. Strang, directly confirmed the identity and transgender status to Juno News, stating Jesse was responsible for the attack that killed 10 people total (including the suspect).

• Local and Media Reports: Residents like Liam Irving and Juan van Heerden, who knew Strang from school, also identified them to outlets such as Western Standard. The shooter was initially described by police as a "female in a dress with brown hair," and some reports note Strang was wearing a dress during the incident.

• Online Presence: A YouTube channel under "JessJessUwU" (with 111 subscribers) is linked to Strang, featuring posts like "I've been pretty um, aimless. :P" from six months prior.

The Incident

On February 10, 2026, Strang allegedly killed two people at a nearby residence before proceeding to Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, where six more were killed and around 25-27 injured. One victim died en route to the hospital, bringing the total fatalities to 10 (including Strang, who died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the school).

This marks one of Canada's deadliest school shootings since the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have confirmed the suspect's identity internally but have not publicly released the name, citing privacy and the ongoing investigation; the motive remains unknown.

Will my Iranian audience return, and how many of them are still alive?

 

This blog used to get an awful lot of hits from Iran. At the time I thought it strange and wondered who in Iran would be viewing my blog, and for sure, who would use Iran as a VPN location? So it must have been genuine traffic, and it was a huge amount of traffic. After the United States, Iran to this day, is the country which this blog's content has been most viewed and accessed from.

Now of course, I have no Iranian traffic, though it did briefly return for the day or so during which Starlink had been temporarily installed, although alas, this brief candle of internet activity from Iran was soon snuffed out.

I wonder now, whether I will ever have my Iranian viewers return, and how many of them are left alive.

Terrible times but let's hope we can end the despotic and evil rule of the Mad Mullahs in Iran, as peacefully as possible.
